At Easington Colliery Primary School we value Physical Education (P.E.) and Sport and understand that there are many benefits to regular physical activity.
As P.E. is a compulsory part of the curriculum, children should bring their P.E. kit into school every week. This kit should come into school with your child every Monday morning and they will bring it home after they have used it that week. Children without kit will use spare kit that is kept in school.
Our yearly P.E. timetable is developed to teach children a range of key movement skills and gives them the opportunity to apply these skills in a range of different sports/sporting contexts. In addition to this we offer swimming for Key Stage 2 throughout the academic year and to KS1 during Summer term.
We are members of the Easington School Sport Partnership (SSP) and this service offers our school a comprehensive timetable of sports events and festivals during the school year. We are very successful at Football and have a long-standing relationship with SAFC Foundation of Light who come into school regularly to deliver sessions. We have also set up a Sports Committee in school to help the develop of PE and Sport within school.
Our school believes in offering children as many opportunities as possible to compete in a range of sports and this is reflected in the number of events we enter. In preparation for events we, where possible, offer all applicable children the opportunity to attend an assessment followed by training sessions. This ensures that children are given a fair chance to show what they can do.
Please see our Calendar for previous and upcoming events.
