We are excited to welcome you to our new nursery here at Easington Colliery Primary School. In September 2020, we established high quality nursery provision within Easington Family Centre for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
Here at Easington Colliery Nursery School, our vision is to provide all children with a happy and friendly environment where they can feel safe, secure and valued. Our setting is an environment which children’s creativity, curiosity and imagination which enables children to achieve and thrive in their development.
Whilst your child is attending our setting they will be offered a wide range of exciting experiences and challenges which will support them in making their own decisions, take risks and gaining an understanding of the world around them. Each day your child will have access to on going learning activities which will be set up around the room for them to explore either independently, alongside their peers or with an adult.
Throughout your child’s day the children will have full access to our outdoor area where the children can access a wide range of activities.
We are very proud to have our own forest school area within our school grounds which all of our children have access to on a weekly basis. Forest school offers children opportunities for holistic growth through regular weekly sessions which supports their play, exploration and supported risk taking. The sessions can help to develop your child’s confidence and self esteem through learner inspired, hands on experiences in a natural setting.
Within our nursery setting we have a caring and experienced team of staff who encourage children to follow their own interests and to develop their own thinking and independence.

We can offer four morning places and four afternoon places for two year old children from 8.30am to 11.30am and 12.15pm to 3.15pm. This will be funded via ‘Play and Learn’ places. If you think you are eligible for a funded place, please apply to the local authority or go onto the Durham County Council parent portal to apply online. If you receive a “Golden Ticket” in the post please bring this to school as your confirmation of funding.
Three and Four Year Old Children
We can offer 26 places to three and four year old children. All children are eligible for a 15 hour funded place. Where parents are entitled, we offer the additional 15 hours to make a 30 hour place for three and four year old children, during term-times only.
