Easington Colliery

Physical Education

P.E is an integral part of the school curriculum. We aim to provide an enjoyable and balanced programme. Alongside this, children will also develop their skills and understanding of competitive team games (e.g. Netball and Cricket), as well as Outdoor and Adventurous Activities, Dance and Gymnastics. Within PE lessons, children are provided with the opportunity to develop their ‘Multi-Abilities’: cognitive, health and fitness, personal, social, physical and creative skills. Within the physical ‘Multi-Abilities’, our main focus is improving agility, balance and coordination. The development of confidence, tolerance and the appreciation of one’s own and others’ strengths and weaknesses are an essential part of our teaching.

At Easington Colliery Primary School, we will provide every child with the opportunity to take part in physical activity regularly, in the hope that this will help them to become more active, more aware of their fitness and more confident. We want our pupils to have fun, learn to lead, explore different sports and develop a love of sport and activity that continues throughout their lives. We recognise the value of sport and activity on raising self-esteem and resilience.

School Games Gold
The school was awarded the School Games Gold award for 2018-2019. The children did fantastically well.
